1. Fairy/fairies (52 times) - an almost exclusively feminine tattoo design choice. Delicate and whimsical, does it speak to the magical in a woman?

2. Angel/angels (50 times) - a holdover from the Christmas season? A tattoo design with strong religious connotations that speaks of faith and a design often used in Memorial tattoos.

3. Tribal (27 times) - widely popular tattoo genre with many influences and sub-genres. Bold graphic designs done predominately in blacks & grey, heavily influenced by traditional tattooing in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific.

4. Celtic (22 times) - often considered a tribal tattoo sub-genre and very popular with those having Irish-Scots heritage. Also popular across Europe.

6. Wolf (16 times - a tie with stars) - popular in North America with a strong Native American influence. The wolf is a powerful animal totem. Popular with as many women as men, are there as many Alpha females out there as Alpha males? Can we have a howl?

7. Tiger (14 times) - A traditional Japanese and Chinese design icon, traditionally a male tattoo design.

8. Wings (12 times) - can be angel wings, fairy wings or butterfly wings, and even on occasion bird's wings. A design that speaks to metamorphosis, change and flights of fancy.

9. Phoenix (11 times - a tie with cross) - traditional design in Japanese and Chinese myth, speaks of rebirth and metamorphosis, popular with men and women.
