Jeffrey Atkins (born February 29, 1976), better known by his stage name Ja Rule, is an American rapper and actor. The rapper with the signature voice wowed us with albums like Pain Is Love, hooked up with hotties like J.Lo and Ashanti for hits such as "I'm Real" and "Always On Time," and the actor made his big-screen debut in The Fast and the Furious.
When we first caught up with Ja Rule, the hard-working New York native was on the cusp of breaking out, having already worked with the likes of Jay-Z and DMX. That was 2001. Since then, Ja has been everywhere, collaborating with everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Ashanti and appearing in movies like Half Past Dead.
Hooking up early on with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. has proven to be one killer association. In the past four years, he has released one album per year. Starting the assault in 1999 with Venni, Vetti, Vecci, he followed up his debut with Rule 3:36 in 2000, Pain Is Love in 2001, and The Last Temptation in 2002, Blood in My Eye in 2003, R.U.L.E. in 2004. A greatest hits package followed (Exodus) in 2005. Pain is Love 2 came out in 2011.
